The Cowboy Way of life is deeply woven into the fabric of the American society. It is the very backbone from which our Country has grown, that pioneer spirit, that give it your all and never give up attitude, and the desire to be fair and kind to all without compromise. The Gene Autry Oklahoma Museum is keeping the Spirit of the Cowboy alive by bringing a variety of musicians to the public. Each influenced by the hillbilly/folks genre of the Western Cowboys. From classic country, to western swing, bluesy cowboys and folksy, too! Add a bit of honky tonk and pour over into rock ‘n roll, all are influenced by those yodelin’ cowboys of yesterday.

The Cowboy Way Fest is a three-day event full of song, cinema, celebrity signings, poetry, storytelling, food, chuck wagon food, and Western vendors! Area and regional bands play throughout the days, celebrities offer up answers at Q and A sessions led by the great Western Historian Charlie LeSueur. Bob Terry an amazing musician in his own right and Web TV Star serves as the Event’s Master of Ceremonies. Julie Ann Ream (granddaughter of Cactus Mack, singing cowboy star) will present her Silver Spurs Award on Friday. And on Sunday the Spirit of the Cowboy Award will be presented after Cowboy Church. Vendors selling Western Memorabilia and other handicrafts will be on site 9am to 6pm each day (except Sunday, the Fest closes at 4pm). Chuck wagons will serve up breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as a local church group. RV Camping is permitted on-site, first come, first serve (no hookups). Celebrities include: Bruce Boxleitner, James Drury, Alex Cord, Rex Allen, Jr., Ben Bates, Roberta Shore, Gary Clarke, Ken Farmer, Don “Little Brown Jug” Reynolds, James Hoffpaiur, Charlie LeSueur, Bob Terry, John Buttram, Julie Ann Ream, and more!

Billy Hogue in Concert January 28, 2017

Born in Jacksonville, Florida, Billy’s dad was a musician who played with the great Glen Campbell and others. Watching Hee Haw as a little kid, Billy was inspired at age six to pick up the guitar and play along, teaching himself to play. In his teen years, Mr. Hogue played in a band but disgruntled he quit and began songwriting. He has played all over Oklahoma and North Texas including with Tim Knight the Grand Ole Opry star. Billy wrote “No More Me and You” for the 12-string guitar which he played at an American Idol audition. Although they loved him, Billy succumbed to drugs. Now clean and clear, Billy recently played at the Pickin’ Parlor in Tishomingo, OK and is wow-ing fans with his re-creation of old time music with new sounds.
